Urbs in Horto

The Chicago Excellence in Gardening Awards (CEGA) are Chicago’s only citywide gardening honors recognizing the hard work and creativity that make our city a healthier, more beautiful and more sustainable place. They support the pride we take in our neighborhoods and help us build our communities.

The Mike Nowak Show

We look back at the 2021 gardening season and some winners from the Chicago Excellence in Gardening Awards 60-Second Garden Video Challenge. That includes the folks at Imperial Towers Community Garden, the Muhammads in suburban Bolingbrook, and Renea Lyles from the UIC Nutrition Teaching Garden. Please join us with your observations and lessons from the 2021 gardening season. Mike and Peggy will update the latest from the Save Bell Bowl Prairie movement, including a protest at the Annual Openlands Luncheon, where Illinois Senator Dick Durbin got treated to a protest while he was being honored for his environmental work. Meteorologist Rick DiMaio says it's going to be a La Nina kind of winter, and he'll explain what that means for us and for the rest of the country.
